Fine Dining and St. Patty's Day in Louisville

Louisville has LOTS of fantastic restaurants and we have made efforts to try as many of the best ones as we can during our visits there and there are still so many we'd love to try.

This time one of the stand outs was Proof on Main in the 21C Hotel (my favourite ever hotel that I've never stayed in) in downtown Louisville. The hotel is a modern art gallery and I MUST visit it every time we're there. I never want to leave it. I just LOVE being surrounded by all that interesting art from around the world. Maybe someday we'll actually stay there for a night.

This is Kevin's dessert, which was named after last year's winning Derby horse named "I'll Have Another". The ingredients are all things a race horse would eat and it comes on a bed of oats. And, of course, some fine bourbon.

Louisville has a strong Irish community so St. Patty's is a big deal. There are a lot of Irish pubs and Bardstown Road was a wild and crazy greenish place both Saturdays we were there.

The Saturday before St. Patty's weekend was the St. Patty's day parade and, of course, much merriment to follow. And the following weekend ... real St. Patty's day ... was a reeling good time, too. We spent most of the evening at Shenanigan's, the pub near campus where the lacrosse team spends a lot of time.

We had a great time there with "the boys" and "the girls". I got my annual green beer.

And then, the next day, we came home. I do love Louisville. I recommend it as a vacation destination.
