The Smoky Mountains in Tennessee

We ventured out of Louisville and spent a couple of nights at the beautiful Buckhorn Inn just outside of Gatlinburg, Tennessee in the Smoky Mountains.

Kevin and I stayed here the first year we visited Kentucky. This time we had a whole house - the Webb House. It was lovely and SO comfortable … the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in!

Each of the 2 bedrooms and the loft where Hannah lived had king sized beds with vintage quilts and private bathrooms. Each bedroom and the loft had private decks overlooking the mountains. The main living space had 2 stories of windows with a view over the mountains and a deck. I especially appreciated the homey feeling created by lots of nice local art on the walls and ... books. Lots of books!

Did I mention the library? Well stocked with good literature. Le sigh. Hannah and were both reminded of the resort in Dirty Dancing (the movie). The whole place had that feel. I would love to spend weeks there! Heaven!

Hannah was thrilled that her loft came equipped with a writing desk. The space was made for her.

We bought groceries one night and Hannah prepared a wonderful dinner for all of us in our Smoky Mountain home. Good food, wine, family. It was lovely. I do wish Luke could have joined us.

This is Hannah's deck with rustic furnishings. The two bedrooms had their own private screened in porches with rustic furniture.

Hannah's king sized bed - just right for her to make like a starfish in ... with a vintage dresden plate quilt.

This is our lovely bedroom with it's own faded vintage applique quilt. Did I mention that each bedroom has its own fireplace and jacuzzi tub with a skylight above?

Hannah ... mountain woman.

  1. A fireplace, skylight and jacuzzi? Wow! What else could you ask for? I wonder what it feels like to live in a place as luxurious as this one. Needless to ask, I can feel how satisfying your stay was. Glad to hear that you had a wonderful time at Tennessee!
